Anyone who has seen my blog post about Sunday lunch knows that there are very few things in the world that I enjoy more. Its definitely an important memory and one that I cherish to this day. No matter how busy the week may get and the number of tasks on our to-do lists, my family will still reserve Sunday to unite around the table and enjoy a meal.
So when I found out that Leopards Leap does a traditional Rotisserie Sunday lunch in the week as well as on weekends, happiness was an understatement. From Wednesday – Sunday you can enjoy the offerings on the leopards leap harvest table with a selection of incredibly specialized meats cooked to perfection! If you are a vegetarian, fear not… Yotam Ottolenghi would be proud of the huge selection on offer.
Picking a seat with the best view, isn’t hard in this restaurant. It seems that each table has the perfect view of the vineyards, herb and vegetable garden as well as the sprawling Franshhoek mountains.
Gone are the days that wine farms turned away families and had a library like policy of being quiet that a sneeze made everyone look at you in shock horror. In fact Leopards leap has an open door policy to families, new parents or anyone wanting to enjoy a day out with incredible food and amazing wines (who wouldn’t want that!)
The kitchen may look quiet, but this show kitchen is where the infamous cooking classes take place, they are fun, interactive and incredibly informative. I recently joined in on one and will be posting all about it soon.
It may be a quiet looking kitchen but the key is in the two things, the preparation (seeing as most of the meats had already been cooking for six hours before) and the beating heart of Leopards Leaps working kitchen is behind this one.
Walking over to the harvest table I can see that I am already spoilt for choice…
If there is any space on your plate left after passing the salads, I would definitely recommend one of the many meat options to add to your rotisserie lunch plate to complete the full circle of deliciousness. There are so many options and most of them vary depending on availability or whether Chef Pieter has found only the best as that is all him and his team offer at Leopards Leap. The classic and never disappointing pork belly…YUM!!! Slow cooked Lamb Neck or Rotisserie Chicken…in fact, why choose…get a piece of everything! Life is far too short to choose at Leopards Leap!
Do not be fooled by my plate, it was merely for styling purposes, i took my own advice dont you worry. I had a taste of all the meats and each of the salads, otherwise I would be doing an injustice by highly recommending Leopards Leap without having the full experience, good excuse right haha.
After the most incredible lunch, there is definitely space for dessert…there always is! Opposite the meat and rotisserie station you are spoilt for choice with the dessert options. Already perfectly portioned out after a fantastic lunch, a sweet treat is exactly what the chefs at Leopards Leap ordered. Below you can see Chocolate Mousse, Peppermint Crisp Pudding, Lemon Swirl dessert, A cheesecake, Macarons, Brownies and so much more!
